A Population-based Registry Infrastructure for Advanced Cardiovascular Research
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common and potentially life-threatening condition encompassing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It occurs when blood clots form in the deep veins—most often in the legs—and may travel to the lungs, causing serious complications. VTE is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide and is strongly influenced by genetic, clinical, and environmental factors.
170,000 VTE patients have been linked to the other registries and provide cradle-to-grave data for researchers. More specifically, this VTE cohort has already been integrated with EHRs, PRO data, lab data, a cancer cohort, a pregnancy cohort, and others. It’s one of the most comprehensive longitudinal databases in the world for VTE research.
